About the Child Sleep Institute

Advanced training and mentorship for professionals who support infant and child sleep

The families you work with are tired, overwhelmed, and trusting you to help. We exist to make sure you feel ready for every conversation, every complex case, and every family who walks through your door.

The Child Sleep Institute is a professional education and mentorship organization built specifically for pediatric sleep coaches and perinatal practitioners. Since 2012, we’ve been creating the kind of training and community that reflects the real depth of this work, not just the strategies, but the stories, the nuance, and the human beings at the center of every case.

Our Mission

To support, educate, and mentor sleep professionals, while elevating the standards and recognition of the pediatric sleep field.

We’re here to help you:

  • Build confidence navigating complex, emotionally charged cases
  • Work with clarity within ethical and appropriate scope of practice
  • Integrate evidence-informed, relationship-based approaches into your work
  • Show up for families with the sensitivity, skill, and groundedness they deserve

What We Do

Sleep is often the presenting concern, but real-world practice involves so much more.

The professionals in this field know that every family brings a full story with them. Your clients don’t just need a sleep plan. They need someone who understands the anxiety behind the exhaustion, the feeding transition underneath the wake window question, and the relationship dynamics shaping every bedtime. We do too.

At the Child Sleep Institute, we provide education and mentorship that honors the whole picture, supporting practitioners at the intersection of sleep, behavior, child development, and family systems. Whether you’re navigating:

  • Parent emotions, anxiety, and overwhelm
  • Child development, temperament, and behavior
  • Feeding transitions and attachment considerations
  • Family dynamics and communication challenges
  • Situations that call for collaboration or thoughtful referral

…we’ll help you feel prepared, grounded, and genuinely effective.

Business Coaching & Mentorship

Because a thriving practice is part of doing good work. We help you build something sustainable, aligned with your values, and structured in a way that lets you show up fully for the families you serve.

Our Approach

Everything we do is grounded in one belief: sleep challenges are rarely just about sleep.

That’s why our education goes deeper, drawing on evidence, experience, and the kind of reflective practice that makes good practitioners truly great ones. We emphasize:

  • Evidence-informed and experience-based learning
  • Attachment- and relationship-focused approaches
  • Practical application to real client scenarios
  • Collaboration with professionals in adjacent fields
  • Ongoing reflection, growth, and professional evolution

We’re not a one-time training. We’re a home base, a place to keep growing, keep learning, and keep doing this work with integrity.

Founded by Andrea Strang

The Child Sleep Institute was founded in 2012 by Andrea Strang, a pediatric sleep educator and mentor with over two decades of experience supporting families and training professionals.

Andrea’s work is rooted in gentle, responsive approaches and a deep commitment to helping practitioners feel confident, even in the messy, complex, emotionally loaded cases that don’t follow the textbook. Her vision for this organization has always been simple: that the professionals who support families deserve the same level of thoughtful, compassionate support they give their clients.

Our community

We serve an international community of dedicated, heart-centered professionals:

  • Pediatric sleep coaches
  • Doulas and perinatal professionals
  • Lactation consultants
  • Therapists and allied health providers
  • Parenting and early childhood professionals

What unites us isn’t just a shared focus on sleep, it’s a shared belief that families deserve high-quality, ethical, relationship-centered support. And that the professionals providing that support deserve a community that takes their growth seriously too.

For Course Providers & Speakers

We’re always looking to collaborate with educators, clinicians, and subject matter experts who share our commitment to elevating this field.

Whether you’re a researcher, a specialized practitioner, or an educator with something meaningful to offer the perinatal and pediatric sleep community, we’d love to explore what that might look like together. Our platforms reach an engaged, professional audience hungry for high-quality, evidence-informed, practical continuing education.

Our Vision

To advance the field of pediatric sleep support by equipping professionals with the knowledge, skills, and community they need to do meaningful, sustainable work with families.

Because when practitioners are well-supported, families are better served. And that’s what this has always been about.
